The shape of the head, combined with slightly convex grinding, splits the wood. The Sarek axe has a long and straight handle made from American hickory, to gain maximum speed and control when splitting logs. It is hand forged and made from Swedish quality steel. The steel head is struck multiple times to increase density and durability.
The Sarek Splitting Axe is named after the Sarek National Park which is located in Jokkmokk Municipality, Lapland in northern Sweden. Established in 1909, the park is one of the oldest national parks in Europe.
