For all you discerning canoeists yearning for a tough-as-nails composite canoe paddle for your backcountry trips in any water environment—your wait is over! Introducing our brand new Horizon canoe paddle.
The Horizon—released on October 1st, 2025—is designed for multi-day and expedition canoe trips when durability is mandatory. It can handle rocks. It can handle up to Class III whitewater. It will be your new go-to paddle for every condition. Not only that, like all our paddles, it looks amazing.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Horizon canoe paddle is its colorful, eye-catching design that’s traditional and modern at the same time. Who says you can’t have a highly-functional composite paddle that’s beautiful, too?
Then as you look closer, you’ll see the blade is compression-molded fiberglass with several rows of stitching that wrap around the tip. That stitching is our revolutionary Lam-Lok™ edge protection.
Lam-Lok™ defends the layers of the blade against delamination, impact and abrasion, so your blade stays solid through rocky landings and long hauls. The stitching is light-weight and ultra-strong aramid thread—the same material that Kevlar canoes are made with. Each blade gets 15.5 feet (472.4 cm) of this stitching, giving it the backcountry durability you need.
The featherweight carbon blade peg adds strength through the length of the blade, but with a smooth transition without sharpness or catch around the joint. The beefy 127.5 square inches (822.5 sq cm) gives you plenty of surface area to pull water.
Horizon’s shaft material is 100% carbon. This offers very light weight combined with just the right amount of stiffness.
The Hooked T-Grip is constructed of shatter-resistant plastic. It’s stronger than wood and safer than carbon. This minimalist grip won’t crack under pressure, giving you all the confidence you need in remote and unforgiving terrain.
The grip offers an ergonomic and intuitive shape that’s super comfortable and gives the paddler precise control when navigating technical lines or tight turns.
All this, and the Horizon canoe paddle weighs just 23 ounces (652 grams). That means you can go all day, day after day, without the fatigue and soreness you’ll get from a heavier paddle.
Of course, we welcome anyone who loves to canoe to get one of these paddles! We know you’ll love it, no matter how much you paddle or where you go.
The canoeists who will appreciate Horizon the most are those who value both function and feel. Who look for gear that reflects their style, but most of all, that earns its keep.
Canoeists who venture often into wilderness areas and who paddle both flatwater and rivers can use Horizon as their primary paddle without having to baby it on rocks or worry about edge chipping.
When we tested our Lam-Lok™ edge protection during development, we found it increases the life of paddle blades 5-10 times over those without it. That’s an incredible difference that will give backcountry canoeists peace of mind on long expeditions.
